Bio
Jon was born in Baltimore, Maryland and raised in Greenwood, South Carolina. He attended The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in English and minored in Spanish, graduating with honors. While he was enrolled at The Citadel, Jon studied overseas twice. Once in Madrid, Spain, and again in London, England. He also spent a semester in Washington, D.C., where he interned for the American Bar Association.
Upon graduating from The Citadel, Jon moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where he enrolled in the New England School of Law and earned his Juris Doctor. Throughout law school, Jon clerked for a criminal defense firm which served clients in the greater Boston area. During his third year, Jon was able to appear in court on behalf of clients as a certified student practitioner – which is where he began to develop his passion for being in the courtroom.
After earning his Juris Doctor, Jon moved back to South Carolina to be closer to his family. He later got married, moved to Berkeley County, and joined the Berkeley County Public Defender’s Office, where he represented indigent defendants and defended cases ranging from minor misdemeanors to serious felonies. After spending roughly a year at the Public Defender’s Office and getting to know the Berkeley County legal community, Jon took the opportunity to switch sides and work for the Berkeley County Solicitor’s Office. This has given Jon a unique perspective on the criminal justice system in Berkeley County. While at the Solicitor’s Office, Jon prosecuted hundreds of cases, including crimes such as Murder, Armed Robbery, Burglary, Assault, Drug Cases, Unlawful Weapon Possession, DUI, Hit and Run, and various Property Offenses. Jon remained with the Solicitor’s Office until he was hired by the West Law Firm – where he looks to continue to seek justice for the citizens of Berkeley County and the surrounding areas.
Jon lives in Pinopolis with his wife, Jessica, and their two children, Camilla and Madeline. When he is not at the office, Jon enjoys spending time with his family, watching his favorite sports teams play, and hanging out with his friends in the neighborhood.
