A few weeks ago, we had the chance to spend the morning with the kids at the Moncks Corner Police Department’s Rookies in Blue Summer Camp, and it was one of those events that leaves you smiling long after it’s over.
Mason talked with the group about confidence and why something as simple as introducing yourself, making eye contact, and giving a good handshake can open doors throughout your life. Watching the kids practice those skills, cheer each other on, and slowly become more confident was probably everyone’s favorite part of the morning.
Of course, there were plenty of funny moments too. The kids asked great questions, kept everyone laughing, and reminded us how much fun it is to spend time with the next generation.
One of the things we love most about being part of this community is getting opportunities like this. It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day, but taking a morning to encourage young people and hopefully leave them with something they’ll remember is time well spent.
A big thank you to the Moncks Corner Police Department for inviting us to be part of such an incredible program. We’re grateful for everything they do to invest in the kids in our community, and we’re honored we got to play a small part in it.
